AI can turn a dataset, campaign update, or research dump into a 20-page report in seconds.
But pages of summaries, charts, observations, and recommendations are not useful if the reader still cannot tell what happened, why it matters, or what to do next.
Insight is the connection between evidence and action.
Instead of asking ChatGPT to make your report more comprehensive, ask it to make it decision-ready.
Try this prompt:
You are a senior marketing analyst. Turn the material below into a one-page decision brief for a busy marketing leader.
Source material:
[PASTE REPORT, DATASET, OR UPDATES]
Create these five sections:
1. WHAT HAPPENED
Summarize the most important facts, changes, or results. Separate facts from interpretation.
2. WHAT IT MEANS
Explain the likely implications of those findings. Clearly label anything that is an inference rather than proven by the evidence.
3. WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION
Identify the 3 most important issues, risks, or opportunities that require a decision or further investigation.
4. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Recommend what should happen next, prioritized by expected impact.
5. EVIDENCE
For each major conclusion or recommendation, show the specific data or evidence that supports it.
Keep the brief concise. Remove background information that does not materially affect a decision.
If a report does not help someone make a decision, it is not insight yet.
Happy prompting!
