It’s easy to agree on a launch plan when the dates, budget, and team capacity all look settled. The difficult part is deciding what to give up when one of them changes.
The product launch slips four weeks. Do you delay the campaign and lose momentum? Keep the date but change what the campaign promises? Or redirect the campaign and give up the launch you planned?
That’s round one. The choice you make should shape what happens next. If you spend your spare budget to keep momentum, a budget cut in round two should hurt more. If you delay, a competitor announcement might raise the stakes. By round three, the game should expose what your plan protects when you can’t protect everything.
Give ChatGPT the plan and let it play the opposition:
Turn my marketing plan into a three-round game. I should be able to make reasonable decisions and still lose something that matters.
My plan: [paste the goal, audience, offer, channels, timeline, budget, team capacity, and important dependencies].
Before round one, identify the few priorities my plan depends on and set a simple win condition based on its goal. Tell me what would count as losing. Use only the information I’ve given you, and make any assumptions visible.
Play one round at a time. In each round, introduce a realistic surprise that puts the plan under pressure. Give me three plausible choices with different trade-offs. Don’t tell me which choice is best, and wait for my answer before continuing.
After each choice, briefly show what I protected, what I put at risk, and what I gave up. Carry those consequences into the next round. Make the later decisions harder because of my earlier choices, not because of arbitrary twists. Don’t invent performance results or claim to predict what would happen in a real campaign.
After round three, show whether my decisions met the game’s win condition, what they cost, and which weakness in the real plan is worth addressing now. Start with round one.
Play without changing your answers after seeing the consequences. The revealing moment is when you realize you can still hit the launch date, but only by sacrificing something you thought was essential. That’s the part of the plan worth revisiting.
Happy prompting!
