When copy feels off but you can't pinpoint why, most marketers waste hours reworking words instead of diagnosing the real problem.

Use ChatGPT as your diagnostic tool instead.

It will tell you exactly what your copy is trying to say, or reveal that it's not saying much at all.

Try this prompt:

Read the copy below and summarize the core message in one clear sentence. Don't add fluff or interpretation — just tell me what this copy is actually trying to say.

[PASTE YOUR COPY]

If ChatGPT can deliver a crisp, clear sentence, compare it to your original. Often, that summary is clearer than what you wrote.

If ChatGPT struggles or gives you something vague, that's your signal: your copy isn't saying much of anything.

Time to simplify or start over.

Here's the follow-up prompt when you need to rebuild:

The copy I shared is trying to say: [INSERT THE CLEAR SENTENCE FROM ABOVE]

Rewrite it to communicate this message directly. Keep it simple and focused. No fluff.

Clear copy starts with a clear message.

If you can't explain it in one sentence, your audience won't get it either.

Happy prompting!
