You know what you want to be known for. Your customers only know what you've published.
Over time, small choices in your homepage, emails, and posts add up to a position of their own. It's not always the one you planned.
That's your accidental positioning. ChatGPT can spot it by reading your materials cold, like a new buyer would. Just don't tell it what you're aiming for.
Attach your homepage copy, About page, LinkedIn bio, and a few recent emails or posts. Then try this prompt:
You are a potential customer who has never heard of this business. Read the attached marketing materials and tell me how it comes across.
Answer these questions:
1. What does this business do, in one sentence?
2. Who is it for?
3. What is it known for?
4. Who would you compare it to?
5. Which words or phrases gave you that impression?
Base your answers only on what's written. Don't guess what I'm trying to say.
Once you have the read, follow up with:
Here's how I want to be positioned: [your intended positioning]
Compare this to your read of my materials. Show me where they don't match, which phrases are pulling me off course, and what I should change to close the gap.
Happy prompting!
