A strategy can sound convincing when the audience, message, and channel plan all appear to fit together. The risk is that every piece may depend on the same untested belief.

Say you're planning a campaign for small business owners. The team believes they care most about saving time, so the message leads with speed. AI can suggest dozens of ways to sharpen that message. The more useful question is whether speed is the right promise. Customer interviews might point to a different priority, such as avoiding costly mistakes.

Use ChatGPT as a strategic challenger in three passes:

  1. Name the bet. State the audience, the behavior you want to change, and the belief your plan depends on.

  2. Request the strongest challenge. Ask what else could explain the evidence, which customers the plan may overlook, and what would have to be true for it to fail.

  3. Design a check. Turn the most consequential objection into a customer question, data review, or small test.

Try this prompt:

Act as a constructive challenger to this marketing plan.

Goal: [goal]
Target audience: [audience]
Proposed strategy: [plan]
Evidence we have: [research, results, or observations]
Constraints: [budget, timing, or other limits]

Identify the three assumptions that matter most to whether this plan succeeds. For each one, give the strongest plausible alternative explanation, the evidence that would distinguish between them, and a practical way to check it before we commit further resources. Separate concerns grounded in the evidence from possibilities you are raising. Do not invent customer facts or make the final decision for me.

A useful challenge changes what you check next. Compare the objections with your actual evidence, then decide whether to test, adjust, or proceed with the uncertainty clearly stated.

Happy prompting!

The Hidden Cost of Fast AI Answers

A fast AI answer isn't always a coordinated one. When AI resolves B2B issues without looping in the teams responsible for them, confidence outpaces alignment. A new Harvard Business Review Analytic Services briefing paper, sponsored by Front, looks at closing that gap.
