A brief tells people what the campaign is trying to achieve. It does not usually tell them every task required to get there, which tasks need approval before others can begin, or how the timeline changes when a public holiday lands in the middle of production.
Creating the action plan is important, but it can swallow hours better spent on the strategic work only a marketer can do.
ChatGPT can turn the brief into a detailed campaign launch plan, then turn that plan into an interactive dashboard you can actually use.
Open it in your browser to see the full timeline, tick tasks off, track completion percentage and see what is overdue, blocked or coming up next.
It can also create a CSV version of the same plan, ready to import into Asana or your preferred project-management tool.
Try this prompt:
Turn the campaign brief below into a detailed campaign launch action plan and create two finished files.
First, inspect the brief. Ask only for missing information that would materially change the task sequence, timing, dependencies, approval steps or deliverables.
Work backwards from the launch date. Exclude these non-working days: [e.g. Saturday and Sunday / Sunday only / none]. Exclude these public-holiday dates: [list dates]. If public-holiday dates are not provided, do not guess them.
Create:
1. `campaign-launch-dashboard.html`
Create a self-contained interactive dashboard I can open locally in a browser. Include:
- An editable task checklist
- A completion percentage and progress bar
- Completed versus total tasks
- Overdue, blocked and due-this-week task counts
- Filters for phase, owner and status
- A timeline with dependencies
- An assumptions and watchouts section
- The ability to add, edit, delete and mark tasks complete
- An export button for the current task list as a CSV
- Local saving so edits remain when reopened on the same device
2. `campaign-launch-tasks.csv`
Create a matching task list with these columns:
task_id, phase, task_name, description, owner, due_date, estimated_effort, status, priority, depends_on, channel_or_workstream, approval_required, notes
Make the action plan specific to this campaign. Include planning, production, review, approval, QA, scheduling and post-launch reporting tasks where relevant.
Use `TBC` rather than inventing dates or owners. Flag impossible timing, missing approvals and critical dependencies.
Before returning the files, check that the dashboard and CSV match exactly and no task is scheduled on an excluded day.
