Marketers have plenty of ideas for useful websites.

A calculator that helps customers choose the right package. A personalized assessment that turns expertise into leads. A resource center for an event. A portal that keeps a product launch organized.

Most of these ideas are never built.

They are too small to become a priority for the web team, too expensive to send to an agency, or too difficult to create with the tools the marketing team already has.

ChatGPT Sites changes which ideas are worth building.

What is ChatGPT Sites?

ChatGPT Sites lets you create, host, edit, and share a website or lightweight web app by describing what you need.

The result is not simply a mockup.

A Site can have working forms, interactive features, stored information, file uploads, controlled access, and basic visitor analytics. You can publish it using a ChatGPT-hosted address or connect a domain you already own where custom domains are available.

You can also keep a Site private, share it with selected people, or make it available to your wider workspace.

This means ChatGPT can now help create the experience around a campaign, not just the assets that promote it.

Think beyond landing pages

The obvious use for Sites is building a landing page.

That is useful, but it is also a limited way to think about the feature.

The more interesting opportunity is creating small, focused web experiences that do something useful for a specific audience.

For example, you could create:

  • An ROI calculator for a service

  • A quiz that recommends the right product or package

  • An assessment that gives each prospect a personalized result

  • A searchable library of templates or resources

  • An interactive version of a report

  • A configurator that helps buyers explore their options

  • An event hub with schedules, resources, and updates

  • A lead magnet that provides a useful tool instead of another PDF

The Site itself can deliver part of the value promised by the campaign.

That gives people a stronger reason to visit, interact, and share their information than a page that simply describes the offer.

Launch a real business website

Sites could also be useful when launching a new business, service, event, course, or offer.

Instead of assembling a website platform, hosting provider, template, form tool, and several integrations before you have attracted a customer, you can ask ChatGPT to create the initial site.

Give it your positioning, offer, audience, proof, brand assets, required pages, and desired customer action. Ask it to add an inquiry form and store the submissions. Then connect your domain and publish it.

This does not mean the Site must remain your permanent website.

As the business grows, you may need more advanced ecommerce, integrations, search optimization, analytics, governance, or technical infrastructure.

But you do not necessarily need all of that before you can explain your offer and start collecting genuine inquiries.

Sites can also improve how marketing teams work

Not every useful Site needs to face customers.

Marketing teams regularly manage important work through a mixture of documents, spreadsheets, messages, and meetings. Sites can turn that scattered information into a shared tool people can revisit and update.

A team could create:

  • A campaign request portal

  • A product-launch calendar

  • An event operations hub

  • A brand and asset library

  • A content-production tracker

  • A customer research repository

  • A searchable sales enablement center

  • A weekly marketing performance dashboard

These internal Sites can be restricted to the appropriate people. They can also include forms, filters, saved records, and other interactive features that a normal document cannot provide.

Give ChatGPT your actual brand context

ChatGPT can make a Site look consistent with your brand, but it needs more direction than “make it on-brand.”

Provide your:

  • Brand guidelines

  • Logos and approved images

  • Color values

  • Font choices

  • Tone-of-voice guidance

  • Screenshots of existing pages

  • Examples of current campaigns

  • Accessibility requirements

Ask ChatGPT to explain how it has applied the brand before you publish.

It is still your responsibility to review the copy, claims, layout, mobile experience, links, forms, and visual details. Sites makes production easier; it does not remove the need for marketing judgment.

Understand what happens behind the page

Sites is currently in public beta on eligible paid ChatGPT plans. Hosting is included within plan-specific limits, although OpenAI has not promised that the current beta model will remain unchanged.

If you connect a custom domain, you still need to own and renew it through a domain provider.

When a Site collects names, email addresses, files, or other personal information, you also need to review where that information is stored, who can access it, what consent is required, and what privacy information visitors should receive.

Payment processing and full ecommerce are not the best fit for Sites today. Start with focused experiences where the functionality and data handling are easy to understand and review.

Find the Site your marketing is missing

The best starting point is not asking ChatGPT to build a generic website.

First, identify a useful experience that your customers or marketing team currently lack.

Try this prompt:

Help me identify a useful website or lightweight web tool that we could create with ChatGPT Sites.

Here is the context:

Business: [DESCRIBE THE BUSINESS]
Products or services: [DESCRIBE THE OFFER]
Audience: [DESCRIBE THE AUDIENCE]
Current marketing activities: [LIST THE MAIN CHANNELS AND CAMPAIGNS]
Common customer questions or decisions: [LIST THEM]
Recurring internal marketing problems: [LIST THEM]
Existing website and tools: [ADD LINKS OR DESCRIBE THEM]
Available brand materials: [LIST THE GUIDELINES, ASSETS, OR EXAMPLES]
Important privacy, legal, or technical constraints: [ADD THEM]

Generate 10 focused Site ideas across:

1. Customer acquisition
2. Lead generation and conversion
3. Interactive content
4. Customer education
5. Events and launches
6. Sales enablement
7. Internal marketing operations

Do not give me 10 variations of a landing page.

Prioritize experiences that would be genuinely useful but may previously have been too small, expensive, or technically difficult to build.

For each idea, explain:

- Who it is for
- The problem it solves
- What the visitor or user can do
- What information it needs to collect or store
- How it supports a marketing goal
- The main risk or limitation
- Whether it should be public, private, or restricted

Rank the ideas by usefulness, ease of creation, data sensitivity, and likely marketing value.

Recommend the strongest idea and turn it into a concise Site brief covering its purpose, audience, pages, interactive features, form fields, data requirements, brand inputs, success measures, and pre-publishing checks.

Do not build the Site until I approve the brief.

ChatGPT Sites is not interesting simply because it can make websites faster.

It is interesting because it changes which websites get made.

A small Site can serve one campaign, one audience, one offer, or one recurring workflow extremely well. It no longer needs to become a major website project before it earns the right to exist.

Happy prompting!
