Use ChatGPT’s custom instructions to remember your brand voice

Smart marketers use custom instructions so they don’t have to repeat themselves.

You shouldn’t have to remind ChatGPT how to sound every time you open a new chat.

Just save your brand voice once, and let ChatGPT stay on-brand by default.

Here’s what to do:

→ Go to Settings → Custom Instructions (or Memory)

→ Paste the text below into “What would you like ChatGPT to know about you?”

Template to copy/paste:

Tone of voice: [Insert 3–5 tone words—e.g. bold, clear, no-BS]

Do use: [Words/phrases you want it to use—e.g. simple language, strong verbs, short sentences]

Don’t use: [Words to avoid—e.g. jargon, emojis, hypey phrases]

Formatting rules: [Any specific preferences—e.g. sentence case only, no divider lines]

Example paragraph:
"[Paste 1–2 short paragraphs that sound exactly how you want your brand to sound]"

From then on, just add this to your prompt:

Use the brand voice stored in your memory.

If you don’t have your voice nailed down yet, [insert link to brand personality post].

Happy prompting!
