A rewritten CV can sound convincing before you've established whether the claims are true. The better starting point is the job description itself. Treat it as a list of things you may need to prove.
Suppose a role asks for experience improving campaign performance. “Managed multichannel campaigns” describes an activity. A stronger example explains the problem, the decision you made, and the result. If you can't name a result, you may still have a useful story, but you need to be clear about what your evidence actually shows.
Ask AI to interview you one requirement at a time. Bring real projects, numbers you can verify, and details about your own contribution. Let it press for specifics. Did you lead the work or support it? What changed? How do you know?
Keep unanswered requirements visible. A gap might mean you need to ask a former colleague for a figure, find a better example, or decide the role calls for experience you haven't built yet. None of those gaps should become an invented CV line.
Once you've reviewed the evidence, choose the examples that deserve space in your application. You'll have stronger material and a clearer basis for deciding whether to apply.
Try this prompt:
I’m considering this role. Interview me to find evidence for its most important requirements.
Job description: [paste it here]
First, identify the key requirements and group repeated ones. Then ask me about one requirement at a time. For each answer, follow up to establish the situation, my specific contribution, what I did, and any result I can verify. Distinguish between evidence I’ve provided and claims that still need checking.
Do not write or improve my CV yet. Do not fill gaps with plausible examples. When we finish, give me a table of each requirement, my best supporting example, missing details, and any requirement for which I have no evidence. Help me assess the match without making the decision for me.
Once the interview is over, ask AI to sort what you’ve found. This follow-up turns your answers into a shortlist of examples for your application and shows where the evidence is still thin:
Review the evidence we collected against the job description. Group the requirements into strong evidence, partial evidence, and no evidence.
For each partial match, tell me whether another question could uncover useful proof or whether it appears to be an experience gap. Identify the three examples most worth using in my application and explain why.
Give me a candid assessment based only on what I’ve told you. Flag anything I need to verify before putting it on my CV. Do not turn weak evidence into a stronger claim.
Happy prompting!
