Use AI to write better articles

Smart marketers don’t ask AI to “write an article.”

Most marketers skip straight to the prompt:
“Write a blog post about [topic]”.

Then they wonder why the output sounds like every other post on the internet.

Here’s a better way to co-write with AI—one that starts with your thinking, sharpens it with AI, and ends with content that actually sounds like you.

Step 1 – Start with a brain dump

Before you go near ChatGPT, write out your thoughts.

What are you trying to say? What’s important to include?

It doesn’t need to be polished.

Just brain-vomit your rough ideas into a doc.

Step 2 – Look for extra angles

Next, ask ChatGPT to find extra angles or points you may have missed.

Use the prompt:

Here’s a rough idea I’m working with:

[INSERT YOUR BRAINDUMP]

What key points, angles, or questions should I include in an article on this topic?
Highlight anything I’ve missed that would strengthen the content.

Step 3 – Build the outline

Create the final list by combining your thoughts and the suggests you liked from ChatGPT. Then ask it to structure the points into a clear outline.

Use the prompt:

Based on the content below, create a clear, structured outline for an article.
Group related ideas and add section headings.

Here’s the content to use:
[INSERT COMBINED IDEAS]

Step 4 – Write the first draft

You can do this yourself. Or, if you find it easier to edit instead of writing from scratch, ask ChatGPT to write the first draft for you.

Use the prompt:

Write a full article based on the outline and content notes below.

Keep the tone [INSERT TONE—e.g. clear, direct, conversational].

Avoid filler or generic intros—get to the point.

Outline:
[INSERT OUTLINE]

Content notes:
[INSERT BRAINDUMP]

Review, adjust, and you’re done.

Happy prompting!
